I just won an auction (ok, I was the only bidder). I've purchased a skein of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Silk Thread lace-weight, in the Pebble Beach colorway, 1250 yards for $19.99 plus S&H: grand total, $25.09.
Has any one purchased or used this silk thread from BMFA? Did I do ok?

I've never heard of it. You could do a Google search and see what it's selling for elsewhere.

I don't know, but you can buy most stuff directly from their site:
http://www.bluemoonfiberarts.com/ They are the "socks that rock" people.

So am I doing my math right that you paid about $5 for each 250 yards? I'm not that familiar w/lace weight yarns, but that seems like a pretty good price to me.

So thinking about it again, it's handdyed silk lace? Claudia Handpainted's will be about $40 for that amount, Lorna's Laces silk/wool one about $52 for that amount, Fleece Artist's around $35 (for 100 grams, which is probably what yours is at a finer gauge), so if it is hand dyed silk lace, yeah, it sounds like you got a good deal.

Yes, it's hand dyed silk lace weight. The seller had originally purchased 2 a year ago, and only needed one skein for her shawl.
I haven't had any luck with "googling" it. May I'll email BMFA and ask for stock info/price.
Anyway, it was an impulsive buy; I'm supposed to be saving for Stitches East in the Fall.

Their laceweight is discontinued. So yes, if you love it, it was worth the price :)

That's how I try to think about yarn on ebay, sometimes there are clear bargains (like buying colinette from UK ebayers for 1/3 the price of the US price, giotto for 9 dollars instead of 28 for instance because it is so much cheaper in the UK) but other times its sort of "How much is the value of this item to you?" and if what you paid falls within that, I always think that I did well.

I emailed BMFA. Tina Newton responded; they still carry it and are hoping to add it to their website next week.

I'm not sure. But I did an Icarus shawl in a varigated yarn (purple gold wool), as a gift. Maybe one for me with this purchase. But again, I'm not sure.
