View Full Version : FO- Bolero/Shrug for my niece!

06-26-2007, 01:28 AM
I finished a week before her birthday, yay! I had fun doing this; I love knitting stuff that can be knit in one piece! This is the bolero (called Molly) in the Junior Knits book by Debbie Bliss, knit in her cashmerino yarn. It's so soft!

Thanks for looking!

OH I love that! I was thinking of knitting it for my nephew's daughter - does that make her my 'great' niece? How did you find the sizing - the little girl I want to knit it for is quite petite and I've heard that some Debbie Bliss patterns come up big? Anyway, yours is gorgeous, your niece will love you even more now!:cheering:

Thank you!

I haven't given it to her yet, so I'm not sure if it will fit her. I made the size 4/5 and she is turning four, so it will probably have some room for her to grow. I did try it on my three year old son :teehee: and it was way big for him. The sleeves seemed really long! I hope it fits my niece, but we'll see!

It was fairly quick to knit up- you should definitely make one for your great-niece!

That is really sweet Tiphanie! I'm doing a sweater in that color right now. It looks like it'll be very comfortable.

I'm knitting the Molly - in fact I've finished the one piece, about to start the edging, but I noticed that my fronts are not rounded at all (stair step looking) and my sleeves are short - any help would be great! thanks

Is there some secret way in to see the pics? It tells me they have been removed.

Sorry, this is an old thread! I just added the pics back on, let me know if you have trouble viewing it, via the link.

Thank you for fixing the photo. The shrug is really very pretty, did she like it?

That is one of my 'go to' colors when buying yarn, I have a couple of projects planned for it.

What a beautiful shrug! I want to make one for my granddaughter!

I love the D Bliss baby cashmerino. Is it the cashmerino aran or baby?

03-19-2008, 02:44 AM
Debkcs~ Thank you, yes, she loved the shrug. Purple is her favorite color (like mine) and she really liked it.

Jen~ It's the cashmerino aran. Took about six skeins total (for the size 4/5). It's very soft, even though it's not the cashmerino baby.

Thanks for everyone's compliments!

Love the shrug, looks great. I also love the pink hooded coat could you tell me if that is done from the same book and what yarn you used for that.
The Junior knit book does the sizes go to a 2 year old, if so I may have to put this book on my list of wants.

Karina~ Thanks! The pink hooded jacket is from Debbie Bliss' book "simply baby," and it's sized 18-24 months. I knit it using Lion Brand's Cotton-Ease in Berry. The "Junior Knits" book is for sizes 3-10, so it does not go as low as size 2. I have found that her sizing is very generous, too (tends to run big).
