I'm trying to knit my first sweater. You'd think I'd gotten to a tricky sweater-exclusive part like a buttonole or something, but no. I'm still in the main body and just can't figure out why the pattern isn't working!
Here is the link to the Bethany pattern: http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/bethany.html

So I'm in the body:
"With size 8 needles, cast on 137(153-161-177-185) sts. K 2 rows. Work in Vandyke Moss Stripe for 22 rows," Did that: fine.

"inc 2(dec 2-inc 2-dec 2-inc 2) sts evenly across last row." So I increased the row by two stitches and now have 139 loops, or stitches or whatever.

"Work in Vandyke Lacy Pat on 139(151-163-175-187) sts until piece measures 8-1/2(9-9=1/2-10-10-1/2)" from beg, end on WS." OK, so now I'm stuck. I'll paste the pattern for the Vandyke Lacy Pattern below:

"VANDYKE LACY PATTERN (multiple of 12 sts plus 7)
Row 1 (RS): *K3, yo, SKP, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, SKP; rep from *, end last rep k2.
Rows 2, 4 and 6: Purl.
Row 3: *K1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, SKP, kl, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, SKP; rep from *, end last rep k1.
Row 5: *K2tog, yo, k3, yo, SKP, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, SKP; rep from *, end last rep SKP.
Rep rows 1-6 for Vandyke Lacy Pat."

So I knit row 1 pattern, and am left with 7 stitches to account for at the end of the row, but it just says "rep from *, end last rep k2."

So what do I do with the other 5 stitches?

I'm sure it's very simple, but for the life of me I can't figure it out!

Can you help me? Forever in your debt.

Leslie

Start over at the begining of your repeat again and you'll end at the first k2

do this part again
K3, yo, SKP, k2 = 7 sts

Do you understand all the abbreviations? YO is just wrapping your yarn around the needle, not wrap and k1; SKP is sl 1, knit 1, pass the slip stitch over the knit 1. Make sure you did all of them and/or the k2 and k3 in between. I'm far beyond my first sweater, but on the lace stole I'm making, I'll sometimes get the stitches off. Go back to the beginning of the row and tick off each stitch to make sure you didn't miss one.

Woo Hoo! It worked! Had no idea that's what the pattern meant. Big sigh of relief. Thank you both.
