I made it home from the road this morning and bought myself a new house a few blocks from my present one. I'm in the process of moving now.

As much as I hate moving it's worth it to have a larger house.

My DSL service won't be transferred for a few days, maybe not before I leave back out on the road.

I'll pop in when I can.

You make it sound so easy! Were you looking for long? We have been looking since March but I guess buying a house for 1 is a lot easier than buying a house for 5 plus a dog and 2 cats!

Thanks folks. I hadn't been actively looking at all. It just sort of fell in my lap. The owner is carrying the financing at 0%, a gentleman's agreement on a handshake.

I'd been kind of keeping my eyes open for a bigger place and this just sort of came along.

I've moved most of my stuff today, just some odds and ends left to do tomorrow. I'm bushed.

The phone service is on but there's a problem with the internal wiring. I'll run a new line tomorrow, I'm too tired to care tonight. I've ordered a pizza and as soon as I eat I am going to get a nice shower in my new bathroom and see if I can unbury the bed.

I'm impressed! It took us 5 days and 600 miles of driving just to buy a used car last week.

Congratulations! Enjoy the new digs!

So you bought and sold a house in one day? :?? Are you sure you live on earth? That's practically unheard of! :passedout:

Well there is some debate as to whether or not Florida is actually a part of Earth

The selling was easy, a friend of mine had asked some time back if I would sell my place to him if I ever moved. Only took one phone call.

He's saving the yarn purchase for after the move, so he doesn't have to move it (or worry about it getting misplaced!).

Congratulations, Mason! :cheering:

OK let me get this straight.

In a 24 hour period.. He bought a house, moved most of stuff, & sold his other one.

Ok.. It took me 3 months to sell my old house... 2 weeks to find a new apartment... ( moved 1,000 miles) and a weeks to pack up

What is wrong with this picture?

OK Mason..

Since you're so good at things... why aren't you selling houses?

Gezzzz w/ your abilities you could be rich in one week.. selling about 2 houses a day?

* was almost speechless for a bit... note.. almost

:rofling: Chalk it up to the "good old boy" system that is alive and well here. It's all in who ya know. Ya know?

No need for real estate offices, banks, or any of that nonsense. Speeds thing up a lot.

Believe me, moving that spur of the moment and totally unplanned isn't all it's cracked up to be. Things just sort of get piled. I've worked all day sorting through the stuff and trying to get things half way organized.

I have the kitchen more less in order, the living room is so-so, and the bathroom is usable but cluttered. Forget the bedroom, it's still a disaster and I'll have to find it again tonight under the mound of stuff that somehow found it's way back on top of it during today's "sorting".

I'm exhausted again tonight and still facing a ton of work yet tomorrow. Moving is not at the top of my favorites list.

You have to watch those handshake deals. Sometimes you get the bad end of the deal. We had a similar thing going about 8 years ago. After paying "house payments" for 6 months, this guys mother-in-law lost her home and needed somewhere to live..... guess who was given a 30 day notice....

Yeah I can see something like that happening. You do have to be careful with whom you make such a deal. In this case this is a family friend and they own quite a few properties. He drives a Rolls and she a Jag. I don't think they'll find themselves hard up for a house at any point.

Mason. How long are you home for?

Knitting_Guy

I'm scheduled to leave back out Monday or Tuesday. I told dispatch Tuesday but it's possible that something will come available that may require me to leave on Monday to be in place to load it Tuesday.
