I have two balls of Peru DK Luxury (124 yds each) What can I make? A scarf is ok, but in Central Alabama, not terribly useful. I would like something for myself - any suggestions?

I'm not sure about the yardage, but maybe a shrug?

Thanks Jan - Unfortunately, I don't have enough to make a shrug (at least not for me) :)

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

i am particularly fond of arm/wristwarmers as a 1-2 ball project - you can use them in warmer climates as well, if you're stuck in an air-conditioned office all day - there's a ton of great patterns to choose from online.

Bellium,

Now, you've got me thinking. I had always dismissed wristwarmers because our climate is so mild, however, I do work in a cold office and I freeze to death most of the time. I'm going to start looking at some patterns.

Thanks again!!

yay! i love wristwarmers. i just finished these (http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTfetching.html), and i've knit two other pairs before - it's a quick knit, and it only uses one skein, so you could feasibly knit two pair...i also have this book (http://www.amazon.com/Knitters-Bible-Knitted-Accessories/dp/0715326007/ref=sr_1_1/102-2863728-3415330?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1184543702&sr=8-1), which has a number of good patterns.

I'm glad to know you did those, since they are the ones I plan to try :) I've never done cables before, so if I get stuck, I'll ask you for help!!

I made the wrist warmers from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I added an extra repeat of the pattern before the thumb to make the longer. I used Karabella Super Yak on size 6 needles. Both warmers only used 124 yards... so you could make a second pair or make them longer or a matching hat or neck warmer.

I made them for my sister and had a hard time giving them up.

Candicane -

Thanks for the info :)

You guys have me thinking. I have always shied away from a lot of items like shawls and gloves and so forth because our winters are so mild. However, I FREEZE to death in my office. So now I'm thinking of not only doing the wristwarmers, but also a shawl/wrap to keep at my desk. If they are going to keep it so icy here, I'm going to wrap myself in handknit luxury!

Do you guys like this pattern? I think it's cute, and I think I could manage it, it seems somewhat simple.
