View Full Version : high top baby booties...

08-06-2007, 04:12 PM
I based these on a pattern for Converse All Stars, that I wasn't too successful with. So I changed the pattern & made it my own....

Using GGH Bali yarn (cotton & acrylic) in what i think are very "pottery barn kids" colors...

This is the finished bootie
and here they are before seaming....

The pattern is on my blog if anyone would like to give them a try. They were very easy & quick

Thank you so much!!! I was looking for something neat like this for my cousin's baby. These are perfect. Can't wait to try the pattern.

You should try submitting these to knitty or something. They are really neat.

How does the size look to you? I made one this weekend using the Converse pattern and it looked really big. I assume that was due largely in part to my yarn choice though.

wow, thanks everybody hehe... and if anyone tries the pattern and has any questions, PLEASE don't hestitate to message or email me!!!

AND... about the size, i saw a pattern online for sale, and i thought they looked a bit huge for a baby.

i also think these are a lil big for a newborn depending on the baby (but we'll see). i think using a smaller needle wouldnt have hurt.. and will probably do that on my next pair. and i will be making some more cause it seems like everyone, including ME, seems to be pregnant these days

I love them, love them, love them!! And I couldn't have seen these at a better time... I just made one really terrible baby bootie and didn't want to make the other... I'm totally starting these tonight!!!

Those are too cute. I have a friend that just had a baby... I think I'll have to make them now.

10-03-2007, 05:57 AM
Okay, I saw these and had to try them myself for a friend of mine that just had a baby. I just used Red Heart and sz 6 needles. I like how they turned out but I think they are too big for a new born and I messed up on 1 spot on the second one and didn't feel like undoing it and redoing it since they were bigger than I wanted. But the little girl across the street has lots of dolls and I'm sure one of them will be able to wear them. I'm going to go tomorrow and get a different yarn and smaller needles and try it again. Thank you Roxtarchic for posting these and inspiring me to do something other than a scarf or a blanket :-)

Perfect!!!! IN my world we are expecting 3 new babies within the next 6 months or so. I'll be making one or a dozen of these!!! :)

I have a possibly silly question... I am almost finished with the first one... I'm at the "Lace 'em up & rock on!" part of the directions. How do I lace them? I have no holes to lace them through. At least, none big enough for my icord.

I also want to say thanks again for sharing this pattern... I'm making them for a friend whose screen name is "OrangeShooze" and I knit them up in orange, of course!

Has anyone tried to do these all in garter stitch?

My fingers are killing in the purl and knit. Thinking of trying this all in garter stitch to see how they turn out. Wish me luck.

Sadly to say I gave up. I tried about 5 times and kept messing up. Oh well it was worth the try. :(

I don't know which pattern this is, but I made some awhile back. I had a little trouble with the the pattern, but they came out so cute! The problems may have just been me. These are mine.

This is the pattern.

Jan, those are so cute! I've used a similar pattern. What did you use for the star at the ankle of the bootie?

08-09-2012, 07:32 PM

I didn't put a star on mine, but I imagine you could add a little appliqué.

Dollyce, don't know if yor comment was for me or OP... But I thanked you anyway.

Yes, the original thread is very very very old. 7 years old...

If you'll notice, the thread was revived on 8/8/12, post #36. So everyone's been commenting, posts 37-39 which bumped the thread from 2005 to 2012. The thread caught my attention.I didn't notice it had been resurrected from 2005.

Who are you talking to? The original post is 5 yrs old and I'm not sure that member is active anymore. If you're looking for a pattern you can check the links I posted a few posts ago.
