Hey all -

I'm looking for a basic sock pattern - kind of like the knitting pure & simple patterns

but hopefully free on the web using sport / DK weight yarn.

also would love to find one free using fingering weight.

I dont' need it to be just like the KP&S but just something basic for a first time sock knitter.

can anyone suggest one -

oh and preferrably for approx a woman's size 7 foot.

It's not free but I've used Fiber Trend's Railroad Rib sock pattern many times and it's easy enough for a beginning sock knitter but doesn't get real monotonous. Plus, it has instructions for knitting in fingering, sport, or worsted weight yarn!

Have you checked out Silver's Sock Class? It's has instructions for DK yarns, and it has pictures of everything.

Here's the link http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Start.htm
