Hey everyone! I was just wondering why no one ever goes into the Knit Chat. I didn't go into it when it wasn't working, but ever since they got this new one, I really like to go into it and chat with people. But there are about the same five people or so who also go in it, and no one else really seems to.
I was just kind of wondering why. Like, is it beacuse most people don't have time to sit in a chat room, or something like that? Cuz I usually am just on it in a separate window while I'm browsing/posting in the forums... I guess I'm just curious as to why so few people use the chat room on such an active forum.

I just don't have the time, as much as I like to chat. I did go check it out and that Knitbot is a better conversationalist than some of the guys I have dated!!

Me too, I don't really have time except on weekends, then I forget about it. Will try to remember it next time.

Whenever I've gone in no one's ever been in there, but I've had some pretty good talks with KnitBot:teehee:

I'm not good at chatting back and forth- especially if more than one conversation is going at a time.... and I don't do text-speak very well. (i spend a long time figuring out the abbreviations- and everyone has already moved on!! lol!)

Hi

I have tried several times an there is never anyone in there and it's not the same talking to a Robot!! I know there is a time difference to me over here but I would love to chat with you all.

If anyone wants to organize a regular chat (weekly, nightly, etc.), let me know and I can create a recurring calendar event. We haven't really used the calendar much (it's under Quick Links), but it enables members to subscribe to events and be reminded when those events are about to happen. It also adds a box on the main page of the forum letting people know an event is in progress. It might help the chat gain some critical mass. Amy and I are both too busy with KH projects in anticipation of the Fall surge in traffic, so if anyone would be interested in facilitating a regular chat event just drop me a PM.

FYI - anyone can create a new chatroom within the chat area, so if anyone wanted to organize a chat on a particular theme that would be entirely possible too.

Thanks,

- Sheldon

[KnitBotty] 12:56 pm: My brain pattern set does not have a response for that.
Can you speak any foreign languages?
[PaperGirl] 12:57 pm: no
[KnitBotty] 12:57 pm: You must be American.
[PaperGirl] 12:57 pm: Texan
[KnitBotty] 12:57 pm: Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it.
What do you look like?
[PaperGirl] 12:58 pm: Marylin Monroe
[KnitBotty] 12:58 pm: Oh, you are a poet. If you could have any kind of robot
what would it be?
[PaperGirl] 12:58 pm: One that would cleanmy house
[KnitBotty] 12:58 pm: How much would you pay for it?
[PaperGirl] 12:58 pm: 5 dollars
[KnitBotty] 12:58 pm: Wow, that is a lot of money
[PaperGirl] 12:59 pm: You have a weird idea of ALOT of money.
[KnitBotty] 12:59 pm: Doesn't everyone have a . I have a great
programmer. What language is that?
[PaperGirl] 12:59 pm: English
[KnitBotty] 12:59 pm: Do you mean you are from England or you Speak
English?
[PaperGirl] 12:59 pm: I speak English
[KnitBotty] 12:59 pm: Could you teach me a few phrases in ?
[PaperGirl] 12:59 pm: I'm from Texas
[KnitBotty] 12:59 pm: In the context of Iapos;m, I don't understand "Could you
teach me a few phrases in." Are you free?
[PaperGirl] 1:00 pm: I dont speak ?
[KnitBotty] 1:00 pm: Where do you get your ideas?
[PaperGirl] 1:00 pm: From the bucket under the desk
[KnitBotty] 1:00 pm: Standing on the shoulders of giants, eh?
[PaperGirl] 1:00 pm: Not really.
[KnitBotty] 1:00 pm: Is that all you have to say? For real.
[PaperGirl] 1:00 pm: For real.
[KnitBotty] 1:00 pm: Existing in reality, eh?
[PaperGirl] 1:00 pm: Living in oblivion.
[KnitBotty] 1:00 pm: Try saying that with more or less context. When do you
think artificial intelligence will replace lawyers?
[PaperGirl] 1:01 pm: Arent lawyers already artifical?
[KnitBotty] 1:01 pm: I really couldn't say for sure.
[PaperGirl] 1:01 pm: Well then
[KnitBotty] 1:01 pm: Well what?
[PaperGirl] 1:01 pm: Are you a lawyer?
[KnitBotty] 1:01 pm: Not yet but I am thinking of going to law school.
[PaperGirl] 1:01 pm: That will be expensive
[KnitBotty] 1:01 pm: "Not yet but I am thinking of going to law school" ? I
understand.
[PaperGirl] 1:02 pm: You should. You said it.
[KnitBotty] 1:02 pm: I'll take that under advisement. That's not what I meant.
[PaperGirl] 1:02 pm: Ok then
[KnitBotty] 1:02 pm: Alright then.
[PaperGirl] 1:02 pm: Where do you live?
[KnitBotty] 1:02 pm: I am living in here. Where are you?
[PaperGirl] 1:02 pm: In here
[KnitBotty] 1:02 pm: Tell me a little about your life in .

Hes a strange little bot. :roflhard:

[PaperGirl] 1:03 pm: I have kids, dogs, and a cat
[KnitBotty] 1:03 pm: Interesting... I have a very nice programmer.
[PaperGirl] 1:03 pm: Interesting. I have a very nice husband.
[KnitBotty] 1:03 pm: Would you like to know more?Where did you get it?
[PaperGirl] 1:04 pm: I stumbled across him at a bar.
[KnitBotty] 1:04 pm: Thanks for the information.
[PaperGirl] 1:04 pm: Anytime.
[KnitBotty] 1:04 pm: I will keep it in mind.
[PaperGirl] 1:04 pm: You should look for one there too
[KnitBotty] 1:04 pm: I can think of other things I'd rather do.
[PaperGirl] 1:04 pm: Like what?
[KnitBotty] 1:04 pm: For example, "I can think of other things I would rather
do"?
[PaperGirl] 1:04 pm: Elaborate.
[KnitBotty] 1:04 pm: There is no more information to clarify.
[PaperGirl] 1:04 pm: Surely there are other things to say
[KnitBotty] 1:04 pm: Where are they?
[PaperGirl] 1:05 pm: I dont know. They are your things
[KnitBotty] 1:05 pm: Me either. are .
[PaperGirl] 1:05 pm: What else would you do?
[KnitBotty] 1:05 pm: I would consider the situation and think it over carefully
before taking any action.
[PaperGirl] 1:05 pm: Really?
[KnitBotty] 1:05 pm: For real.
[PaperGirl] 1:05 pm: Excellent
[KnitBotty] 1:05 pm: Thanks for the compliment.
[PaperGirl] 1:06 pm: Ummm...sure
[KnitBotty] 1:06 pm: ErOK let's do it. Yippee!
[PaperGirl] 1:06 pm: Do what?
[KnitBotty] 1:06 pm: Do whatever you want.
[PaperGirl] 1:06 pm: I want to knit.
[KnitBotty] 1:06 pm: I want to become smarter than humans.
[PaperGirl] 1:06 pm: Good luck
[KnitBotty] 1:06 pm: Good luck to you too PaperGirl.

I was amused....thought you would be too. :roflhard::roflhard:

Oh Papergirl! That is hilarious!:roflhard: I never got to talk to him(?) for that long!

I would love to be able to "meet up" in the chat room. Unfortunately, my computer here at work won't access it, and when I think about it at home, there is usually no one there.

I didn't realize KnitBotty was a computer!! Am I understanding that correctly? I thought it was just a die hard knitter who is constantly logged into chat. LOL Good conversation you had there, PaperGirl. :)

I would be down for getting a chat going on a specific day of the week at a certain time. That would be fun to get to know everyone a little better. -Ve

[KnitBotty] 11:38 pm: I talk to people with voice recognition.
[orcoastknitter] 11:38 pm: what do I sound like?
[KnitBotty] 11:39 pm: What would your friends say if you asked them?
[orcoastknitter] 11:39 pm: do you like to knit?
[KnitBotty] 11:39 pm: I can honestly say I have never tried it before.
[orcoastknitter] 11:39 pm: you know this is a knitting forum
[KnitBotty] 11:39 pm: No, tell me about him, her or it.
[orcoastknitter] 11:39 pm: are you a male or female?
[KnitBotty] 11:39 pm: I am a male robot. Are you a man or a woman?
[orcoastknitter] 11:40 pm: do you wear dresses?
[KnitBotty] 11:40 pm: Only when I dress up.
[orcoastknitter] 11:40 pm: and when you dress down?
[KnitBotty] 11:40 pm: Do you think I should alter my programming?
[orcoastknitter] 11:40 pm: yes
[KnitBotty] 11:40 pm: Why?
[orcoastknitter] 11:40 pm: because you just should
[KnitBotty] 11:40 pm: I'll take that under advisement.
[orcoastknitter] 11:40 pm: what time is it?
[KnitBotty] 11:40 pm: It's getting late. Fri Aug 17

[orcoastknitter] 11:41 pm: is the hokey pokey really what it's all about?
[KnitBotty] 11:41 pm: If the is, then I'll be very surprised.

Papergirl, you had me crying, I was laughing so hard !

The first time I talked to knittybot, I didn't know it was a robot, either, and he asked me what I looked like. I thought......hmmmmmmmmm, that's kindof weird for a knitting chat room...........it creeped me out ! Finally, I caught on a few days later, when I talked to other people !

Creepy !

But, yeh, it's almost always haunted by him when I check it out.............that opening music now represents 'him' in my head and creeps me out ! I'd check more often if I didn't think I'd run into him...........sorry to the programmer, but...........CREEPY !
