I am looking the the thing used to measure stitches and rows while knitting (usually used for doing the swatch). I do not know what it is called, and can not find one in the stores where I live. So if someone can tell me what it is called, I can start looking on the internet for it.

Usually you can use what is called a "needle gauge" or "knit gauge" for this. It is a 2 in one tool that is used to not only determine needle size but also help figure out gauge. Most needle sizers do have rulers on them, but ones like this (http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2874&PRODID=prd31088&source=search)are nice because of the window.

I hope that is what you were looking for!

You all are the best. I will be buying one tomorrow. I will be posting my pattern problem in the next couple of days, because I just do not have the brain power right now to try and write something complicated.
