Ok, ever get really mad and do something totally stupid? Well, as mentioned before I've had purple hair dye forever and chicken out every time I go to use it. Well, tonight I said screw it, I want to do something wild.

I bought a chunking cap and got the pieces out and was ready to go. Put on gloves and started brushing the streaks of pulled hair. A big glob of purple dye falls on my forehead and I'm think, gee great! I take off my gloves and clean up, go to get new gloves and the box is empty! Ha!!!

So at this point I'm mad and figure how did people get along before gloves and tools? They used their hands! So I proceeded to dip my fingers in the dye and cover the strands. Knowing full well what I'm doing, just for good measure I took a handful of dye at the end and made sure the hair that was piled atop my head was really saturated.

So yeah, now I have purple hands. :teehee:

*giggles* awww... but I bet your hair looks cute!

Try scrubbing them with plain old softsoap... the clear hand wash stuff... i usually use that to get the stuff off my forehead... :)

I did wash several times right after, and more came out in the shower. With the amount of time my hands spend in water I'm not worried. It's just explaining to the new boss tomorrow why I look like Willy Wonka... :eyes:

Well, I can't see anything yet. But my hair is so dark and thick when it's wet. I was told it couldn't be too intense, don't want to scare the seniors and children I guess.

It's like that time I dyed my arm pink.... but maybe that's a story for another day.

lol try using plastic baggies next time.

I think some lemon and salt might work for you too.

After all that it didn't show up! :???: I think I'm going to try the Color Rays that Silver did. Even if they fade to red, I still like red.

I saw this stuff (http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/1450/240657) at Sallys... looks like it's the same as Color Rays, but it comes in candy pink and purple too!

Sally's has stuff to remove dye from your skin too. ;)

Be sure to post pix when you're done! :cheering:

Mental note: make sure of gloves supply before changing hair color to purple.

tip from a former hairstylist...

If you know anyone that smokes, get some ashes, mix with a little water to make a paste and scrub your hands. You will be amazed how well it cleans... this might also help you to QUIT smoking. LOL

Hey, can I do your hair?! I'd be fun!!!

Silver, I can't view the page but I think you read my mind. Picked up a box of N' Rage today. It's supposed to lighten before coloring it!

You look great. I wish I was brave enough to colour my hair. I have middle of my back length and the thought of something happening to it, would make me cry. So I live my hair colouring fantasies through others.

Very Cute.

So fun and it looks good too! Wish I was that adventurous. I always chicken out.

Thanks all! I did chicken out for the longest time. I think it's also the new place I work. They seem much more "fun" in some ways.

I can't say I was all that happy with the product. There was barely enough to cover the strands I got and it didn't color evenly. Even though it's a giant pain I think bleaching the chunks and then dying them is going to be the best way.
