Can anyone recommend a good online resource on how to knit socks on 2 needles? I know how to knit socks on dpns, but thought I'd give the 2 needle thing a try.

And which method would you say is better?

Do you mean two straight needles, or two circular needles?

Sorry! What I meant there was I can knit with 4 dpns in the round for socks, but want to learn how to knit socks with 2 circulars.

There's a video here for knitting with 2 circs. I think it's under the advanced tab. I can go faster on dpn's than I can 2 circs. Also, I have problems with bigger ladders with 2 circs. I can't seem to pull that first st. tight enough. HTH

I may be bitten by the sock bug yet.

I found this on Knitty (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter02/PATTstraightlaced.html) for casting on 2 socks at a time and I'm in heaven.

Plus I have Cat Bordhi's book Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles. (http://knitpicks.com/Socks+Soar+on+Two+Circular+Needles_BD30113.html)

I'm adapting a pattern for Embossed Leaves socks from IK's Favorite Socks (http://knitpicks.com/Favorite+Socks_BD30898.html) book.

Here's how far I've gotten:

I'm with Debi on this one. I just tried socks with 2 cirs and didn't like it. I had ladders too. I'm going back to DPN's!

thanks everyone for your advice. After watching the video here on KH, I am going to stick with the tried and true dpns.

FWIW, I think learning 2 circ and two-at-a-time simultaneously could be daunting. I don't knit socks two at a time because I can't stand having more than one ball attached to my knitting...but I do all of my small diameter circ knitting on two circs and I  it.

At first, I watched the video, and thought it was skeeerry, then my mom told me it was actually really easy, so I gave it a second chance, and wouldn't you know it, mom was right :)

One of the things that's great about knitting socks on 2 circs is that you don't have to mess with dividing the stitches or worry about how many to move to which needle...it's half and half, so when you get to the heel, for instance, you just work on one of the needles for a while. And if you pick up all of your gusset stitches onto one needle (the heel needle) then you don't have to move any stitches around, ever. IMO it's so convenient.

But, you know, whatever works

This is the best place to learn http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/2mlsocks_start.htm

I think most of the new sock knitters here have gone to Silver!
