Thanks guys!

Foxy, The one i saw in the store was a lighter color. I knew it would get dirty looking quickly so I opted for the dark.

that is gorgeous! and welcome to KH! I immediately saw that and thought, what about fancy schmancy, do the yarn in a pretty mauve and the ribbon in a nice ivory?
That is one of the things I love about our forum when people post pics, you get to see their vision and see your own as welll!:muah:

Welcome aboard! Your purse is beautiful. Brown and blue seem to be a popular combination right now. Your cables are nice too. Thanks for sharing.

What a great job. I am working on making one of these as well, but really strugglilng. On row 5 you work 21 stitches, then I assume you do the C5F but there are still 3 more stitches for the first section. How did you work them? Also I am not really sure that I am correct with what I did on row 2 and alternate rows- You knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as they appear. Does that apply to the T3F and T3F stitches. If so wouldn't you just reverse the previous row? I really want to make this purse, but I am very discouraged. I am new to this forum, and would appreciate all the help I can get. I am not a beginner knitter, I have made 5 sweaters, most of them using the cable stitch. I don't understand why I am having such a hard time. Also, I believe someone else asked the same question, but I cannot find the link to answers that person's question.

that is sooo pretty. Where can I get the pattern? Beautiful job -- how many skeins of yarn did you use??

knitnj~it was one of those free michaels patterns that they have in the store by the yarn. It is also online in their knitting section. I don't normally like the free patterns, as they are not my style, but this one just struck me! The pattern called for 3 skeins, I used a little more than 3.

DHar35~I had to put stitch markers in to remeber when a new pattern came up. I had a marker for the first 21 stitches, then the next 8, then 21, then 8, and remaning stitches were 21.

On row 5 when you did the CF cable, I just knit the last 3 stitches. Just like row 1. You will do it again in row 9.

on the 'back" side, I really just reversed the pattern of the previous row. like every back side row started with a knit stitch. So if I purled it on the front, I knit it on the back. Does that make sense? The wording on the pattern was weird for me, but it just came down to doing the opposite stitch on the back. When i came to the t3f AND t3b stitches, I just did the same thing, Knit it if I purled it on the front and purled it if i knit it on the front. I hope that makes sense, I'm starting to confuse myself. After the first 12 rows, it seemed to become clearer what to do and when.

Good luck! I really liked this pattern once I got through the initial "huh" moment.

booskibabe~I did not line it. So far nothing has poked through the bag. The cable part is done double stranded so it is pretty dense. I may line it in the future though, if I find a nice material that I like. Thanks for the nice comment!

When you use a heavier yarn as you did for your purse,(Pattons Shetland Chunky) did you use two strands as the pattern calls for or just stick with a single strand?
