So I took a picture of this sign because it was TOO funny! Found it in Cedar City, Utah.

My BF's comment upon seeing the picture was.....so if the cops are chasing you and you take all of the flags, do they have to wait for someone to bring them a flag before they can continue to chase you?

My co-worker's comment was.....Man, I would be scared of accidentally landing a plane!

:?? So if there are 3 flags and you are in a group of 4, does that mean you have to wait for someone else from the other side to bring the flag back?:??

:?? Do the flags themselves say something like "stop" or "slow" or "I'm with Stupid" ? :???: Are they to slow down traffic? Alert cars that there is a pedestrian in the crosswalk? :shrug:Does a marching band suddenly appear and escort your to the other side? :teehee: Gosh, I'm so confuzzled! :zombie:

Lovely photos BTW

I think it's like those brain teasers. If there are 3 flags and 4 people how do you get them all across the street and all 3 flags back in the original receptacle if you can only take two people across at a time, and you can only cross the street 3 times......:teehee:

I wanted to know if you had to march like a majorette when crossing. I personally like the reflectors on the flags.

we have those here: they are supposed to catch the eye of motorists so they won't run you over. but people keep stealing the flags.

How bad can that street be for pedestrians if they have to do that?!!!! Holy cow! :passedout: "Carry this red flag, wave it and run like hell!":roflhard:

You know I thought that too, but it's a 25 MPH zone, in a one hour period I only saw 4 cars pass, and it's a 4 mile straight stretch of road!

So, if you are jaywalking, and the cop doesn't see you until you are done crossing the street, do you still get a ticket???

"Our drivers are so bad that they can't see a grown person walking across the street, but they can somehow see this two foot square flag."

Speaking of odd signs seen on vacation, I caught this gem on the way back from Milwaukee this weekend. Draw your own conclusions. :teehee:

We have those at the crosswalk at the hospital I work for. They are supposed to help make sure driver's see you but they've never worked for me. And if you're in the cross walk, you can't be jaywalking.

Now is that Bong recreation site in San Francisco or Woodstock?

Re the flags--here we just have walk/don't walk signs. The flags must make it much more fun. :teehee:

I was driving home last night and exiting onto the interstate ramp. One side of the ramp said "Speeds under 40mph are prohibited." The other side of the ramp said "Ramp speed 25 MPH"

I was so conflicted! ;)

A couple of signs I've seen around Maryland...

Along Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge:
"Antique Tables Made Daily"

And at our McDonald's:
"Drive-Through Parking Only"

I took a little trip this weekend and passed an exit sign that said:

"Auction Road and Hooker Creek"

The BF said, "Wow, they're all about selling stuff there aren't they. Bet you could find WHATEVER you want at that exit.":teehee:

Brenda's post reminded me of signs I saw when I was navigating for my boss many years ago: on a two-lane exit ramp, the sign on the right said "Right lane ends merge left" and the sign on the left said "Left lane ends merge right". I just left it for her to figure out.

Most McDonald's have that sign and YES there is a legitimate reason...

Say you pull into a drive thru, order a cheeseburger and coke and pull ahead to pay. The car ahead of you ordered 6 big macs combo's large sized, 3 mcflurries, 2 snack wraps, and a 3 fajita's no cheese, (this means we have to go to the fridge and grab all the fajita stuff and make 3 fajita's. We normally keep a stack of ready made fajita's in the fridge they are good for a few hours) AND to top it off they are waiting on their 3 large fries.

So in the end, your cheeseburger and coke is already made, bagged and ready to be handed to you, but the guy ahead of you is waiting.

What we do is ask the car with the large order to pull into one of the 2 drive thru parking slots right across from the drive thru, and we will bring his large order out to him. And this way you get your cheesburger faster and it won't be sitting there getting cold while you wait for the jumbo order.

It allows us to get food out faster and keep the lanes moving.

Now you learned something new.:aww:

I've never seen that before. Must be a lot of pedestrians run over at that corner. I'd take the flag then if I had to cross.

Won't that just make you a better target.... ? :-P

My 2 favorite road signs

on the same signpost on the same streach of road on a highway in NJ (of all places)
"North 95" and "South 195"
I kid you not

and on Rt 84 East
"U Conn Law School"
makes me laugh every time

so I am easily amused

Ooo ooo!! We have those flags at some of the crosswalks on campus. No one uses them. They were new last year, and for the first few days people were like, "Lol look at me, I have a flag" but now for they just sit there.

As for funny signs, I saw a sign that was posted on the window of a truck.

"DANGER
NEVER GET UNDER THIS TRUCK IF THE ENGINE IS RUNNING!"

Gee, thanks for the tip.
