View Full Version : My doggy is sick again!

About 5 weeks ago my dog was diagnosed with a bacterial infection, cost me $183 to find it out and medication he took for 8 days. Well, we were on vacation two weeks ago and I scheduled his recheck while we were gone, so they reran the tests to the tune of $120 and said he was clear and healthy and last night he started the vomiting and diahrrea again. I am absolutely wasted as I sat up all night in the recliner with him and was up and down about every half hour so he could go outside and get it out of one end or the other so I have had no sleep. He is at the vet's right now and I made it clear I was not happy that he was sick again and that I couldn't afford $100+ vet bills every 3 weeks. We shall see what they say this time. Keep little Fortune in your thoughts. He only weighs 9 lbs and the poor little thing doesn't understand what is wrong with him.

Sometimes those infections take a couple rounds of antibiotics...I hope he feels better very soon, poor little guy!

Poor little thing...I hope he feeling better soon.
It may be time for a second opinion. Twice I have taken my dog to specialists because his regular vet just didn't have the experience and equipment to deal with his issues.
It was very expensive (spent $5K this past summer!) but better than $200 here, $100 there and him not getting any better.
Because I have a poorly bred Rottweiler I knew his medical costs could be very high so I opened a savings account expressly for medical...saved my butt twice.

I sure hope Fortune is feeling all better soon! Poor little one - it's the toughest thing to watch our furkids feeling miserable. Take care!

The baby is back home. He has colitis. His vet says that it is probably a combination of his breed (yorkie) who are a stressful breed and the fact my scummy neighbors let their kids throw food and bones over my redwood fence and I possibly didn't see something and he ate it. He is on doggy Pepto Bismal so to speak, a special dog food for a week or so and they gave him a shot. He is back to being fairly chipper so he must be feeling better this evening. Thanks for all your good thoughts!

I think it's time to present the vet bill to the neighbors!
I hope your dog feels better soon.

Thanks for the update. to Fortune. And poo on the neighbors. No, I mean literally. Since they are throwing food and bones over the fence, I think I throw dog poo over to their side. Since they "share" with you I'd "share" with them! :teehee:

I'm so glad your puppy is doing better. I know all too well about neighbors throwing food in the yard. My landlord sometimes throws chicken bones - COOKED - in the backyard and my dog has gotten more than her fair share of stomache ailments from it.
Once I had taken her to the park and she found something some moron decided to throw on the ground and not in the trash and that night started a month long chicken and rice dinner w/ a lovely side of constant diarrhea and at least 3 trips to the vet with x-rays. And medication. The first x-ray they couldn't even see much cause her belly was so disdended! By the end of the month they took another one and the compared the 2 and the doctor took it to another vet for a 2nd opinion and he said, "Is that the same dog?"!!!
Now I'm quite the paranoid "mother" and she doesn't get to sniff too long anymore!! My goodness, she'll eat anything. Goodball!
I agree, tell the neighbors to stop the food tossing crap and if they don't, send some poops over to their side!! Fair is fair!!;)
