okay I really want to make this hat for my son, however I can't find the pattern in a toddler size:( his head measures a whopping 19 and 3/4 inches... I would SP appreciate the help. I have a hard enough time following patterns so it would be such a help! thanks so much!
duh! this would help!

That hat always makes me laugh!
I think I'd just knit it with thicker yarn and larger needles.
Right now the gauge is 18.5 per 4 inches and it gets you a 16.5 inch hat that stretches to 18.
Let's say you wanted an 18.5 hat that stretches to 21, you'd need a gauge of about 17 stitches per 4 inches.
If my calculations are right, that is.

I'm sorry. I just think making anyone wear that hat would be cruel.
:aww:
JMO -- flame away.
But really, I remember going to the beach one day and seeing a little boy of about 2 or 3 wearing a little propeller beanie hat and just feeling very sorry for him.
