I've finally got to knitting this one. One of the women working with me is going through cancer treatments and i decided to knit her this just to make her feel better. The treatments are just in case, because they removed her kidney with the tumor, but she still feels weak and down a bit. I hope it cheers her up.
I used some light worsted weight acrylic with 4 mm needles (:cheering: for Options). I haven't blocked it yet and i don't know if i will. Hope you like it ...

Thank you everyone for the kudos! Actually, we're not friends, we just work together and i can't really come up to her and ask her how she feels, we're not close. So i decided to make the shawl to show i care .

I picked a colour that she would like for herself and it was actually a rather quick knit. It took me about 3.5 weeks, but that was the only thing i knit at the time.

That's beautiful! She'll treasure it...as I'm sure she does your friendship!
Must edit here because I just read the 2nd page of posts in which you say you aren't really friends... what an amazing thing to do for an "acquaintance" then! You have a great heart!

It's really pretty. I love the color and that stitch is always nice. It also looks nice and warm and with winter coming on should be much appreciated. Best wishes for your friend's recovery.

Your shawl is very pretty. I too have been wanting to make one. Can you tell me how many ounces of yarn you used and the weight again? Thanks.

I googled the weight and the yards, because we use metric system, so here's what i got:
I used about 350 gr = 12 ounces of light worsted acrylic, that came in balls of 100 gr and 240 meters (3.5 ounces and 262 yards).

Thank you!
The pattern is here (http://web.archive.org/web/20020624070248/http://www.balart.com/CANDLE.HTM). And there is also a KAL here (http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/showthread.php?t=56815). It's really not that difficult and once you remember the pattern, you can knit it quickly.
