The directions I am using for a Dr. Who scarf say that the last stitch on the row may be slipped. What does that mean?

It means that you slip it from one needle to the other, as if you were going to purl it, but don't wrap the yarn around it. Just transfer it.

If you do this on every row, you'll get a smoother edge to your scarf.
