That is so cool. if i thought i could bring myself to get one done, i would have you make me one of those!

Here is something that i really just don't know... How are tattoos generally priced? I mean i realize it is different depending on size and intricacy of the piece of course but something sort of small like that... what kind of range would i be looking at (hoping it is a number that i just couldn't bring myself to pay so i have another reason to not get one...lol)

This knit/purl tattoo cost me $120. Which is really not much in my opinion. My lease expensive tattoo (http://www.cometosilver.com/silver/me/DSC00692.JPG) was $50 which is their minimum price, my most expensive (http://www.cometosilver.com/silver/me/newtatsm.jpg) was $300.

Thank you everyone! :muah:

Wow :passedout:...that is soo cool... and makes me want one even more...

the one on your foot is cute!!

my brother just got his 5th one the last time I was home...he tried to get me to go...said he could "hook me up" with what I wanted on my wrist for 20.00...that kinda worried me cause what kind of tattoo is only 20.00??? :teehee:

maybe one day I'll get past the fear :oo:

Thank you, but I didn't design this one. My tattoo artist did. I only gave him a concept design and he did all the frilly purty stuff. I tweaked it a bit, but it's mostly his work.

I did take a concept design in for him to see first. I had made the original ambigram and then I let him make his own version of it because I wanted more traditional "tattoo lettering". I've since made two other knit/purl ambigrams for friends. You can see one here (http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/showthread.php?t=65851), and I made the other for Kristinw here on KH! :)

Thanks everyone! :muah:

Okay, now you've done it. It's all your fault! LOL

I just MUST get another tattoo. I already have 7, and have been wanting another. Including one on my feet!

I have 2 chinchillas, and am trying to figure out a way to get their footprints without hurting them, so ink for them to walk through is out. I want their footprints tattooed on my feet because they are FOREVER standing on or walking across my feet.

I know what I want for my thigh, I just need to find someone to take my idea and draw it out...and because of your knit/purl, now I know what to put on my other thigh. With your permission, of course. :o)

oooohhhh, I feel a trip to CA building to get to my tat artist....

mare-nitt
10-07-2007, 06:18 AM
Reef, is there something else that they like or could lick off their feet, that you could use in place of ink. Even if their feet were wet with just water, that would leave a print on like a dark grocery bag even.

Their prints sound cute, would be a good tat to have. I want to get the stars and moon on my shoulder blade, kinda fallin down. just to show forever dreaming.

Good luck.

Silver, I loved you for your sock tute (which got me knitting socks!) and now you totally rock my socks (no pun intended). I have three tattoos and I was thinking about getting something similar to the Domiknitrix logo on my lower back on inside my wrist. I love what you had done, though. Very creative and it looks awesome.

Silver that is simply lovely!! And I love the, hmm, palindromic-mirror effect of the word. I have a bunch of medieval examples of the same sort of thing, but had never seen Knit and Purl done like that. Cool cool cool! You are one righteous knitter babe!

That is SO SWEEEEET! I love it.

I've been secretly almost wanting a tattoo for a couple of years - jsut something very small and put somewhere where nobody would see it that I don't want to see it. Fortunately for my parents' (and grandparents, and some teachers, and the boss, and my brother, and my best friends, and their parents, and...) peace of mind, I am terrified of needles and couldn't handle even a small one. My roommate tried to get me to get one because she has one, but I can't stand the thought of the needles...
Regardless, I love ambigrams and that is really cool! It took me a minute to see "Purl" because I was trying to flip it back right-side-up in my mind.

I just came across this link to your tattoo that other people on the forum were talking about. It's really neat! At first, I didn't realize that it was the same tattoo until I read, "upside down." That's really cool! I thought you had "knit" done on one arm, then "purl" done on the other.

ok, can you be honest as i am a whimp how much does it hurt getting them done?
It all depends on your own pain tolerance, AND where the tattoo is located. What hurts for me, may not hurt for you, and vice versa.

I am not afraid of pain and have a fairly high tolerance (I think that's a natural occurance when you have a 9 lb baby without any painkillers. :teehee:) I have six tattoo. Here's a scale of 1-10 rank of the pain for each of them:

1. R outside ankle: 5
2. R chest: 4-5
3. L upper arm: 1-2
4. Across upper back: 4-7
5. Top of R foot: 11 :zombie:
6: R inside wrist: 6

Pain is more severe the closer it is to bone, so places like the top of your foot, hip, ribs, etc will be more painful than your butt, upper arm, or thigh. And pain can vary greatly in one tattoo.

When it hurts, it hurts a lot. BUT, the pain stops as soon as the tattooist stops. And it's a tolerable pain, albeit highly annoying. To me, it's more annoying than anything.

I have to agree with Silver on the pain thing. I'm a wuss and I hate needles, but....I have a full back tattoo that is almost done. I've been to 3 sittings of it, and really just need to get the money to finish what I want done to it.

For me, the most painful part of it was when it got close to my sides. Everyone said the back would hurt because of the spine, but honestly, I liked it. Yeah it vibrated my spine and skull a little, but it felt a bit like a massage. I've also got a "tramp stamp" that didn't hurt at all. I asked my tattooist if it was supposed to feel that good and he said nope and joked that he'd have to charge me extra.

OK, I'll show my ignorance.......what's a "tramp stamp"?

scout52
01-14-2008, 09:31 PM
ROFL- a tramp stamp is a tattoo on your lower back right above your bum.

as for pain. i had a tattoo put on my hip and I'm a thin girl and woo it hurt ALOT!! the motivation of not messing up the tattoo is the only thing that kept me from jumping every time it hit my hip bone.

alleusion
01-14-2008, 09:31 PM
It's a tattoo directly above my jean line. For clarification, it's my astrological sign.
