My husbands neice and a high school classmate of mine live in Huntsville, but I have never been there. Have you ever been to Tuscaloosa? I just took some baby caps to a local yarn shop called Serendipity's . They are having a challenge with another shop in La. for the Alabama/LSU game. They will be donated to the local hospital.

Hi, I visit my daughter in Huntsville (actually Madison) all the time.
(I live in Wisconsin.) Have you ever been to Yarn Expressions in Huntsville?

I have one child that goes to school in Madison :p Yarn expressions is a really nice store, just not close to where I live(opposite ends of town). It is easier for me to get there from work since I am in the medical district. I do go there when they have their once a year sale with all the yarn 40% off :woohoo:
I have been to Tuscaloosa many years ago for a football game, but haven't had a reason to go back.

Was that you I accidently bumped into at the Yarn Expression sale?
I got some beautiful yarn that day, how about you?

Kathleen I probably did see you there...I'm 5'9" with short light red hair:shrug: lol---like that couldn't be just about anyone, right! I did get some koigu, enought to keep me busy for a while. Come to think of it I don't think I bought anything else but the koigu :aww:

Is the koigu the yarn that is kind of rough and comes from Japan and changes color?

The one I like is soft merino, it's kind of a variegated look. I know which one you are talking about and that stuff would scratch my skin off. Here is a link for you

NOW I know what you mean! I bought some of that, too! In the periwinkle kind of colors, to make socks. It's sitting in a bag somewhere. . .lol.

I'm in Cullman, doable if I were to spend the day.

Actually that post didn't make much snse since I didn't reference whom I was relying to. I meant Huntsville and Tuscaloosa. My son and his wife lived in T'loosa until last year. So we would go there frequently, and I even can drive there all by myself, which is quite an accomplishment with my health problems and all. Haven't tried H'ville alone, seems driver friendly to get around tho. We go occasionally when my hubby needs to go to the WEiser Head Office, and then we go to our favorite Indian restaurant for dinner. Yum!

:waving: Hey everyone! Somehow, I missed this thread until today!
Glad to see some activity here from Alabama knitters! I'm in the central part of the state, and, sadly have no lys :( - But, I plan to get into B'ham soon and see what's there!
Have fun here on the forum, it's a great place to be!!!

Which Indian restaurant is that? Could it be Sitar, by any chance?
Have you been to Yarn Expressions in Huntsville?

I'm in Cullman and both Tuscaloosa and Huntsville are doable for me. Where is Yarn Expressions in H located? Where are the other yarn shops located? We have nothing but WalMart.

Hi! I am in Talladega. I was raised in North Alabama (Pisgah) and lived in both Huntsville (1990-1992) and Tuscaloosa (1992-1994) while going to college. I have only been knitting for the past 4 years or so. We have no lys..........I am however, very fond of the hobby lobby in Anniston. Nice to meet you all!

Hi! I live in north Walker county, and I was wondering if any of you still check in to this site. I'm a new knitter, but I've done crafts of different types all my life. Would love to make new friends who are also nutty about knitting. Thanks. :~)
