I've always wanted to make the bonnet from Knitting for Two. but everyone I knew was having boys.

Not this time! One is having twins, one of each; and the other is having a girl. So I made one hat out of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino and one out of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. I like the pattern, so I made sweaters to match--a basic top-down cardigan with the design on the bottom.

I made a sweater and hat for the boy twin, too. I used a stitch pattern I found in one of the stitch dictionaries, Thrum stitch, I think, and basically did the same thing with the sweater and improvised the hat. It looks a little funky, but it should be cute.

Very very nice work Ingrid. Your work is exceptional. I LOVE that bonnet. Too bad there will be no more girls. My daughter is finished now. My granddaughter is too old for a bonnet. What a shame. Lovely work though. Some new mother is going to be so proud taking her children out in those outfits. Congrats.

I was thrilled when I found the buttons--at Joann's. The one with the cat buttons will go to cat lovers, so I was especially thrilled to find them.

The twins get their sets on Thursday.

As I said, I've been waiting forever to make that bonnet--it's a lot easier than it looks, too.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Here are a couple of more kind words, lol!!They are just beautiful...you should take a picture of the babies in them and show us here!!!!
My granddaughter is due in Decembercloud9 and I have been looking at hundreds of hats it seems like and I can't pick one:?? to go with the sweater I made her.
But, I would love to make this hat...is the pattern in the Knit for Two book that you mentioned earlier? or is the sweater in it or both??
Thanks in advance,
Jen

I hope the babies stay in Mom as long as they need to. She's due at the end of November. I hope she brings them in (with their sweaters on :teehee:) or at least takes a picture with them. Maybe she'll let me take a pic of the sweaters on her belly. She's a very small woman with an enormous front!

The hat is in the Knitting for Two book. I think I got it used on Amazon for a reasonable price. There re some other really cute girly patterns in it, so if you've got a little girl coming into the family, it would be worth getting.

The sweater starts out as a basic raglan, and I added the pattern from the hat from the armholes down. I just added about 10 stitches to balance the difference from the stitches pulling in.

Everything turned out very nicely. I like the stitch you used on the blue sweater, and the buttons (I've used those too). I love the starfish thing on the bonnet. These are great gifts. Sounds fun to have a girl/boy twin set to knit for. They won't expect 2 of the exact same thing (which is not as fun to knit). LOL

I had them all wrapped and ready to give them to the soon-to-be mama, but she wasn't in today. She's in the hospital. Nobody was sure if she was in labor or not, or if she was going to stay. . .I just hope the babies are big enough when they do come.
