I meant to say before too thank you so much for the yarn... I KNOW we can use it! I love the color! :inlove:

How much does Red Heart Super Saver soften after you wash it? I have some rainbow yarn in that, but it's awful feeling. I don't mind crocheting with it just to make a simple border (I'm thinking sc or dc once around) but I don't want it to be rough. I have to go get yarn for a baby gift anyway so I can look then. Thoughts? (and buying more yarn is NOT a problem :teehee: )

Red Heart isnt too bad now a days. I've got a afghan made for the 80's version and it still scratchy but softer. Today's read heart is MUCH softer feeling and softens up when washed. I made a pair of socks from it and they feel fine against the feet

I have some worsted weight yarn I'd like to give away to any Oddball Baby Blanket knitter. If you are interested, please send me a pm. Thanks!

Our blankets are coming along very well! :cheering:

Before too long, our blankets will be complete, and we will all be able to concentrate on making blankets for our separate regions.

Thank you all so much for your hard work and dedication to our project.
 :muah:

Today, I received the SWEETEST gift from gmmarton. She wanted to thank me for my work on the Oddball projects. She sent the CUTEST card with Snoopy (from "Charlie Brown") on the front. How did you know that Snoopy is my favorite?

In the card, she included a giftcard to Barnes & Noble! :cheering:

Tonight, I took the giftcard to B&N and found a knitting book I've been wanting for a LONG time. Thank you so much, gmmarton!

I just want to thank all that have participated in the blankets. The beauty of these blankets are so inspiring. The hours of work, the fiancial costs, I am humbled at the love in them.
I am so glad these gifts, the blankets will now be spread all over our Nation. An act of kindness will never be forgotten.
One small blankets makes a difference, and as knitters we do make that difference.
Again, thank you to all who have helped give the hospital here some of the love and kindness that will make a difference.

Big Bear Hugs to all of you....

But I do have a pic of Happy Bluebirds. The ruffle border too ma a LONG time because I'm a VERY slow crocheter. But I think it was well worth my time!

Hi Everyone!

Oh wow, Happy Bluebirds is just beautiful!:yay: (and happy:teehee: ) I think the ruffled border was well worth it as well-it is a perfect color choice as well! Yay for all the knitters on that blanket:hug:

Its kind of sad to see how we're all filtering into our different region-groups... I know that more blankets will get done this way and its much much better for Ms. Sandy (bless her heart!! ) but still... for those of you who I dont get to talk to again, thank you SO much for knitting with me the short time i've been here.... It was lovely to meet all of you and it has been such a blessing to chat and be around all of you:hug: Thank you!

I have Fruit Stripes done but I am waiting on Pastel Rainbow to send them both to Snowbear at the same. Time if that is okay? That will save on packaging and maybe a little postage and since they will both be finished I didn't see the harm. Let me know if you want them sent separately.

I will send a pic of Fruit Stripes as soon as I can.

wow! I received a package from HollP and it had 3 blankets in it.. They are beautiful! Red roses.. awesome... Speed Racers, i've got to do one similar for my grandson, and Rainbow JoY2. so special.

They show the beauty and love that all of you included in your knitting. They are just beautiful.

I have so many ideas to make into blankets,, as I have a new grandchild on the way! So light weight blankets are being planned as daughter and her family will be moving to Hawaii for the next 3 years.. So new baby blankets will be planned with some of the beautiful patterns you all have knitted!

I remember when this blanket was first started by Ladylou not that long ago. Neat!

I made the card to go with the blanket, and it has survived all the travelling with the blanket very well. I just looked online for a pretty picture to represent "Fairy Land", and printed it on blank cardstock. I'm so glad that everyone signed it!

wow,

I am just thinking of all the love all those families have received. It is such a warm gester to give something comforting, and what better than a baby blanket.

I know when this ends.. it is being replaced by more love for others everywhere. There are a few of my co workers who have started some blankets. So the pebble continues to touch lives as the love moves to others.

I can't wait to deliver the next basket of blankets.. It is such a humbling exciting experience.

Thanks so much...

I've owned three Macs over the years: I had a Mac Plus (the funky, original box unit), a Mac Powerbook (laptop), and now a MacBook (laptop). I loved every one of them.

As a teacher, I used PCs (Dell and IBM) and Macs since the late 80's. Hands down, I prefer the Mac and always will.

Yippee!! I learned how to do something new! :woohoo:

This morning, I wanted to finish our "Fairy Land" blanket. I wanted to make a pretty crochet shell border on it, but didn't know how.

I didn't want to turn on the internet, because it was so nice and peaceful in my craft room when my hubby and step-son were asleep. Plus, I knew that if I DID turn on the internet, I would spend the next two hours reading everyone's posts in the forum. :teehee:

So, I grabbed my old copy of "Step by Step to Better Knitting and Crochet" (which I've had since 1982!), and found out how to do the shell border.

Very nice job! Don't you love it when you learn something new like that?

Kelly this (http://www.nexstitch.com/v_single_crochet.html)is that site that I learned from... I can't crochet from a chain stitch I have to have more fabric, like the blankets...

The only other thing that I'm not sure is covered there is that you do 3 stitches in one at the corners to turn the corner.

Great Job Sandy!!:yay: It looks wonderful!! I don't know how to crochet, but I would love to learn. :whoosh: I would love to be able to add borders to blankets. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks! I just kinda figure it out as I go. I don't know if it's right, but it looks okay.

Thanks! :)
I did 5 half-double crochets in each corner stitch.

Here's how I did the shells.
To start, I did a single crochet border all around the blanket.
Next, At the beginning corner, I chained one, then started the shells:

1) skip one stitch,
2) Do 3 half-double crochets in the next stitch (all in the same stitch)
3) skip one stitch,
4) Do a single crochet in the next stitch.

Repeat steps 1-4 until you get to a corner. Then do 5 half-double crochets in the corner stitch. Then chain one. Then do steps 1-4 again until you get to the next corner.

Do the same thing until you come back to the beginning.
Then slip the first and last stitches together, and weave in the ends.

I know this is not the right way to write a crochet pattern, but it's the only way I know how to describe it. :)

:) Thanks Brenda!

Today, I received the Pink Power blanket from Karne!
I LOVE IT!!! I think this one is ready to bind off and just leave as it is. It doesn't need a border at all!

There is only one blanket left to finish now.
Just Ducky (knittinicole is finishing this one up)

We have lost a few* of our blankets in the process, but I think we did pretty darn good by successfully completing 36 blankets!

LBeck... You are awesome! Thanks soooo much for the lovely sock yarn... you are sooo kind.

OK. These blankets are awesome.. Happy bluebirds is sooo pretty. ( of course blue is my fav color..lol)

and The rainbow one is so vivid. The colors are so great!

I see the light getting closer and we're almost finished.. This has been an awesome experience. Once this thread is done.. it will always be remembered by all the love and time that was given to it by all..

Shandeh especially, she really needs to be in charge of our nation's budget. She could get things organized in a split second.

To all the knitters, you work and love, and time, and expenses mean so much. Without all of you this would never have happened.

I sense the end coming soon, and I am just amazed at the difference one person can make on the world. With Shandeh starting the first oddball blanket, look at all the good that has come about..

Big Bear Hugs to all

Shandeh I have had fun helping out with this project and am having just as much fun with my "new" regional group. :)

as if my wonderful skills where not in use already I am also helping out the West Coast region as a finisher since my dear friend Auburn chick asked me.

I know each and everyone of the blankets we have done will touch the hearts of everyone who receives them.

Shandeh,

Am I wrong... but isn't there only 2 blankets left? The pink power, and the Just Ducky from what I can tell of my notes.

Wow, the colors in all the blankets are so bright, the kids will see them a mile away!

"Just Ducky" is the only one still being finished. (It's with knittinicole, and should be on its way to you soon.)

I bound off "Pink Power", and it looks great without a border. So, it's ready.

I'm mailing 3 blankets to you this weekend:
Pink Power, Fairy Land, and Wildflowers

Have you received these blankets?
Puppy Dog Tails, Happy Bluebirds, Pastel Rainbow, Fruit Stripes, and Rainbow Blocks.

"Sugar & Spice" has disappeared. If it ever turns up, I'll let you know. The other two "lost" blankets have been gone a long time, and I don't expect to see them again. ("Gorgeous Grapes" and "Crayola Box")

I would just like for all of you to know what a pleasure it has been to work on this charity with all of you. It is so fullfilling and rewarding to know that I am helping out someone who might need just a pick me up and one of these blankets would do just that.

Thank you Snowbear and Shandeh for the idea and all of the hard work you put into making this happen... Thank you to everyone else that has worked on the blankets also because without all of us it would not have went so well.

I am getting the same rewards working with the Southeast Region also but I just wanted you all to know how much this has meant to me.

That is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!! Congratulations everyone!

Of course I forwarded the link to everyone at work since I was IN one of the pictures with you and worked on TWO of the blankets shown. They were amazed at what we are doing! One of the girls wants to write a story about it and send it to the local newspapers. (I work in Public Relations, it's what we do.)

Sandy, do you think this is something we would consider doing? She could write a story and then send it to each regions' leaders to add some localized information and then when we finalize them all, we can send to the media? It would definitely attract attention and possibly donations of either supplies (yarn, needles) or help to get more members! (Would we also need to get Amy's approval?)

Let me know if you want me to persue. My co-worker may not be able to wrap her brain around it completely until after market though - but she REALLY want's to do it!!! She said that would be her way of joining in with us!

Talk soon, Brenda

We are finished. I'm delivering the blankets this week. This has been a work of love, and Shandeh has jewels in her crown from this. I am continuing with a few from work, very few, and just taking it easy.

The work is now throughout the world, and I think that it is a great work. For my small part of it, I have a warm spot knowing the love and warmth that helps all the ones associated with this.

Again, thank you to all who has been a part of this wonderful work..

Amen.
