I kid you not...my mom gave me a dress that had that kind of collar on it....the dress underneath notso bad....but that pleated to oblivion not my thing!!! I'm waiting for my sewing friend to tell me if I could take the collar off, re-seam it, and it would look OK....

Geesh! Couldn't they have found a smaller busted model??? Not sposed ta wear double breasted stuff when yer already double breasted!!!

MamaMer

While I definitely wouldn't wear that (or knit it--seems like an awful way to torture perfectly nice fiber:teehee:) that poor model is not the right girl to model it. She is lovely, nothing wrong with having curves (from one curvy lady to another!!) but the person who took the pic (or designed it) should have known that something that bulky wouldn't look well with a body type like that--you would have to be pretty thin to pull it off even just a little bit.

Why are all of the fashion mags telling women to take a big bulky sweater and put a belt over it? I saw it again last night (on Kylie Minogue, the actress) and I couldn't get over how awful it is...even on the skinny people. But a normal person in it, and it reads as "snowman".

It is just tooooooooo ugly.

And that poor sweater had enough strikes against it already!:teehee:

Um...ok, I think I'll be having an aversion to purple for a while. Lol! That sweater is HIDEOUS!!!:noway:

Maybe it was intended for a Halloween theme??:oo:

I mean, seriously...didn't the model think for just a second "Hmmm...do I want to pose in something that looks like it was a Cirque Du Soleil design gone wrong?"

I agree that sweater is YUCK...

As for your dress, HeatherFeather, YES, you can alter your dress by removing the collar on it and stitching it up for a probably very nice look. Without seeing the dress, I couldn't say the best way to go about it, but would definitely work.

Yanno I was thinking the same thing. I've seen others that were far more.. err.. extravagant? Granted the collar is a bit much.. and the boobage is a bit much with a doublebreasted anything. I can't be the only one out there that looked and said "ok with a few changes and a color change this could be ok? Granted, not something I'd wear.. but I've seen PLENTY on this board and others that I personally wouldn't wear :noway:.. doesn't mean that it wouldn't be someone elses pride and joy. Especially if they were the designer.. I think you gals are being a touch harsh :flirt:

My first thought was that the sweater looked like it would be a nice warm wear in my keep-the-heating-bills-down-cold house in the winter. I'd probably make it single breasted and do something with the sleeves, though, so they could be rolled up if I were doing dishes or baking something. Not un-redeemable, but probably not something I'd wear outside the house as it would make me look even shorter than I already am.

Well, one nice thing about the photo: it shows how it would REALLY LOOK on me!

Photos of sweater patterns so often show how they look on a tall, lithe, and youthful figure! :teehee:
