Look at my new needles :tap:All the shiny stuff is waring off just the needle end ,but not off the cable end.I thought they were made of the same stuff :thud:This stuff shouldn't be waring off :nails: All I did was knit a scarf in Malarigo. Is anyone else having this problem?

Is it wearing off or is it something like tarnishing? It could be a reaction to your skins oils on the metal...

None of my other regular Options have done this.

Try polishing the darkened metal. In another thread (or maybe another forum) someone asked KnitPics what to use to polish the stains off the metal and KPs said try ketchup, lemon juice, or metal polish for nickel.

Taco Bell hot sauce works too. It's a great jewelry cleaner.

My regular options do that but I could never get a good pic to ask anyone about it. i'm not sure why or how to take care of it though:??.

Zinc will react to the oils/acidity in your skin and darken. I guess if mild acids help remove it, your skin might have a more alkaline ph.

I used some KnitPicks metal DPs that did this when they sat for a couple days, I was afraid it was permanent, but found that a piece of wool (I think I used a hand-knit sock) polished them right up.

:help:Imagine what it does to your stomach if it is a good tarnish remover! :out:

Great tip!
