Ok..........I'm still totally a yarntard! So tell me, I saw a sign that said 100% Merino wood was machine washable is that true? I was thinking of getting it for some socks for mom for Christmas.

Lisa Souza has some hand dyed washable Merino (http://www.lisaknit.com/yarn/animalfibers/sock-merino.html) that is lovely. If it is washable, the label should say "superwash".

Some of it is, some of it isn't. Depends on which one.

It's true! I just bought some to make a hat for the BF...I thought it would be better to be able to wash it since he gets sweaty :ick:

Merino is just a type of wool. It comes from the Merino Sheep. It happens to be a very fine, soft wool, which is why it's popular and desirable, but it's still wool. And just like wool can be superwash, so can merino.
