What happens to an article knitted in seed stitch when it's felted? Do you lose the wonderfully nubby pattern that is seed or moss stitch, or does it felt like stockinette but retain the nubbyness?

Never mind -- I should have done a search first. This has already been answered. Thanks anyway!!! :muah:

One of the posts indicated that the stitch definition would be lost if seed stitch was felted. Sorry to not have posted the link earlier!! (I did a search for "felted seed stitch" and got lots of info.)
Bummer! It would be cool to get those bumps felted...I wonder if you could do that stitch where you knit 2x through each knit, purl 2x through each purl. I wonder if that would do anything?

I've been playing around with doing cabled bags and keeping the cables when felted. My attempt to do it with 100% wool gave me a bumpy felted bag and the cables were instinguishable. Then, I took one strand of 100% wool and one strand of 100% acrylic and made the bag. Of course, the guage was different and the bag did not shrink as much, BUT, the bag retained the cable look. To me it wasn't nearly as pronounced as a bag that hadn't been felted but it's still nice.
I would think you could do the same thing with the seed stitch. Here's a photo link for the cabled bag...

I've done straps in seed stitch and found the stitch definition doesn't go completely away for me when I felt it.
