View Full Version : Rowan Atmosphere Sweater finally finished!

After 6 months of slow knitting, I finally finished this sweater! It's knit in Rowan Plaid yarn in colourway called Washed Pebbles, which is merino + acrylic + alpaca. It's bulky weight yarn and is really nice to knit with. The only trouble is it's a bit splitty, because it has 3 threads, each in a different colour. Anyway, Hubby simply loves it and thus agreed to model it for me and for the benefit of the forum ! I loved the pattern and i actually knit the XS size. It's my first serious cables project and i'm in love !
So here we go:

Well, thank you! I'm not a super knitter, i would place myself between advanced beginner and intermediate. I just try to do things that look hard at first and to overcome the difficulties. Like Ingrid says: "Trust the pattern!"!

Hi'ya Natalia! :waving:

Well now...THAT is one gorgeous man...I mean, SWEATER! :teehee:

Seriously, your pullover is just WONDERFUL! And I especially like the yarn you selected! It is RIGHT ON!

You should be VERY PROUD of your knitted artwork! And lucky you...your man will wear a sweater! Sigh!

Thanks for taking time to post the photos for us!

Hugs,

Dollyce aka The Artlady

I forgot to mention it's from the Rowan Plaid Collection pattern book, i got the pattern for the sweater when i bought the yarn.
And ArtLady - I am proud of this work, especially after all the kudos i receive here on KH! You guys are the best :muah:!
And i'll tell DH he's popular over here :teehee: It does look good on him, doesn't it?

Very cool. I'm still a little scared of a sweater, but it's on my list of things to attempt after the first of the year. Great job!

Wow, Nat, that looks fantastic!
Definitely worth the long time it took. I have a couple of projects that are taking a long time, but will be worth it.

Gee, I wonder what the XL size looks like? :teehee:

IF PEOPLE DONT STOP KNITTING BEAUTIFUL SWEATERS... Im NEVER going to finish all of the projects that are going on my "need to make" list.

That is beautiful and I am going to look for that pattern (i might just have to make it for myself)

it is so perfect, the elegant cables and the rugged "manliness" of the colors make a perfect balance, it is an amazing sweater

The sweater and hubby look fantastic - really nice job! Not wishing to spoil things...when you wash it be very careful - my mum hand-washed two sweaters for me made with this yarn - one I had knitted and one that I bought as a sample on sale from my LYS. They both stretched quite a bit, in fact one so much that I gave it to the local zoo for a chilly gorilla...ok, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but not much! I was v.disappointed as the yarn feels and looks beautiful and was lovely to knit with. Obviously this could have been mum's fault (though I've never said that to her!) but just thought I'd pass it on...after all that work....and looking so good x

Thank you very much for the advice :thumbsup:I'll be extra careful with washing it. Maybe i'll just have to block it again after the washing .

Hi girl!

Sorry, I'm always last to say something. Knit a little slower - it might help.

May be if I was as good a knitter as you my man would wear whatever I'd knit for him.

Love,
Tamar

Thank you, thank you :hug:I'm glad that my work is an inspiraton for others cloud9. What i did was show DH the pattern for approval, than i got the yarn in a colourway he liked and the rest is history. I think that way you can knit something that will be worn and loved. It's also important to check allergies and level of sensitivity to "itchyness".

The funny thing is that this yarn does stretch. It's heavy, so the sweater is pulling itself down, it's already an inch longer:teehee:.

Thank you for the compliments:aww:. I'm not such a fast knitter. This sweater took me about 6 months. It's my first ever *normal* sweater, so i just took the jump and tried. When i didn't know what to do (i learned new increases on this one), i turned to Amy's videos or searched the forum. It wasn't easy, but it definitely fills me with pride to look at it :teehee:.
