I have a friend who is Really Really Into Penguins. (as am I. penguins = awesome.) So, two questions, because I want to make her something penguiny but haven't decided what yet.

1) Are there any patterns for a relatively simple knitted penguin? I am aware of this (http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTpasha.html), which is totally adorable, and the sort of look I'm going for, except I'm hoping to find something with fewer parts. (I'm not very good with seaming.)

2) I was also considering doing a (probably) double-knit scarf, in either black and blue or silver and blue, with a penguin image ... something along the lines of this (http://www.fallingblox.com/images/122605-crowscarf.jpg) (from here (http://www.fallingblox.com/knitting.htm)), only with penguin instead of crow. I've been trying to design something, and failing; does any pattern like this already exist?

Are you someone/do you know anyone who could adjust the first pattern to be knit in the round? That's what I would do, but I'm having a hard time describing how I would do it. Or knit it flat but just knit the white/orange piece onto the side of the black piece...

I might have a different penguin pattern and link saved on my laptop, but it is in the shop STILL (*kicks BestBuy for keeping it so long*) so I can't check. If I get it back soon I'll check for you.

Many of the seams on Pasha Penguin are just whipstitch... and it still ends up looking amazing. I made one, and I'd totally recommend that if seams are the only thing you're worried about. It does have a bit of mattress stitch, but you could totally whipstitch that, too. With black on black, you barely notice. I know I totally don't notice on the wings...

you could just use the penguin. You wouldn't have to make it
an illusion scarf...there is the chart for the penguin that could
probably be adapted to other things. :)
