Is there something like noro that is feltable with long colourways that isn't quite as spendy? Just wondering as I am trying to save on the Christmas budget and "gift" yarn I have just discovered isn't wool. I think it must have some acrylic but since it is free I will figure something else to use it for later.
Thanks

What are you using the yarn for?

Patons SWS has some really nice colorways. I know the label says 50% Soy and 50% Wool but it felts really quickly. You can buy them from Michaels or Joanns. I think Michaels has them on sale this week for like 2 for $9. or See this (http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60425) thread for the Sophie bag I made.

plymouth has a line called Boku which is like noro; and Joann's is now carrying Debbie Mumm yarns which are similar to the SWS.

I was so disappointed! Only the "super stores" are carrying the Debbie Mumm yarns... I'm going to have to order it online instead. :pout:

When I was at Michaels the other day, I saw that Patons has classic Merino wool in variegated colors. Patons wool felts really well.

I'm not sure the classic merino has the long color changes though. Could be long enough, and it's on sale this week at Michael's...

Mumm yarn is not going to felt like you want it to. It's mostly acrylic. Boku I think would be a good option for you.

I love Galway for felting and they have the painted kind now. Maybe WotA handpainted?

You might look for an online clearance sale of Karaoke.

I order a lot on line anyway but I wanted to feel it first. I will just wait for all the opinions on here and then decide if I should buy some.
