Is your very favorite for socks? There are so many out there, I'd like to have a suggestion from some of the more opinionated of you :teehee:

First on the list for me is Opal for it's durability..then it has to Hummingbird for it's softness..then angora for it's luxury...having said that I have used many more and I dont think I have used one I dont really like xx

I like KP's Gloss it's nice to work with... I haven't tried their others but Palette and it wasn't bad... When I splurge on sock yarns I like Cherry Tree Hill Supersock...I love working with it...and Koigu... I also browse etsy cause I love hand dyed sock yarns...Opal is nice...so is Wildfoote...I also like Paton's Kroy...so many options...a lot I haven't tried yet but hope to soon :teehee:

AAck! So many choices! I'm making a pair with Cherry Tree Hill Supersock now; the problem is that it has to be handwashed in cold water, and the person I'm making them for tends to forget little niceties like that.Guess I'll have to remember to take my glasses next time I go yarn shopping.

Anyone else have an absolute favorite?

oh yeah...that would be bad :teehee: ...I usually just hand wash all my socks to be safe... for a gift I can see where you would want something that is machine washable...Patons Kroy and wildfoote are... Knitpicks has some as well that I haven't tried Risata, Essential, Felici, and they have superwash blanks that you could dye yourself (which is a lot of fun and very addicting)

I've been putting off learning to dye wool. During the 60's I was the tie-dye queen of my group, and I know it's hard to stop once you get going. Color is such a luscious thing!

How about 100% Merino Opal? :)

Good, both will go to the top of my list. Thanks to you both!

I really like Schaeffer Anne, but it's finicky. Fore reliable and sooooooft, either Koigu KPPPM or Trekking XXL. But I also <3 good old Regia (especially the bamboo!) Inexpensive and entertaining.

I like Lang Jawoll, because there are LOTS of color choices, it makes a nice fabric, and there is a small spool of reinforcement thread, dyed to match, included with each skein.
