Indygirl posted here (http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68140)about the cutest little Tam she made...and I had to make it for my little girl...Knitpicks carries the book Kid's Knitted Hats for the best price I could find :happydance: ....Then my daughter picked out her color from my crazy amt of Encore DK stash...
Plymouth Encore DK
Size 4 needle
CO~ 11/9/07
BO~11/11/07
I made the size 4 cause she will be 4 in Dec...and although it fits her ok I wish it was a tad more snug on her head...I prolly should have went with the smaller size or tried to figure out an in between size...she is happy with it though and calls it her "artist hat"...
The mittens are found here and called Playground mittens (http://crossroadknits.blogspot.com/2007/01/playground-mittens.html)...I really liked them cause the kid's fingers can be free when need be...like zipping up their coats and tying their shoes...where normally they would have to take off the mittens and hopefully remeber to put them back on...these will come in handy for my son who is in school but of course my daughter would have to have the same pair...unless I wanted a mitten war...
Encore Plymouth DK (2 strands held together)
Size 5 needle
I CO for these on 11/11 but they were to big for her... I restarted and finished them today (11/14/07) this way I could have her try them on as we went...I made these changes...After the ribbing I did plain St St for 4 rounds and then started the thumb...after the thumb was placed on scrap yarn I did 10 more rnds of st st and then started the decreases...
Now to finish my son's hat and mitten set
