View Full Version : Tube Scarf

My Granddaughter wants a "tube" scarf. O.K. I know what a tube scarf is BUT what she wants sounds different. She says it can be worn as a scarf or put her head into the tube & and have it as a combo hat/scarf or even as a poncho. Guess I'm getting old and losing my thinker, as I can't figure out how she can do all of those things with a tube scarf, and have not found a pattern anywhere that fits that description. I am not an inexperienced knitter but I sure feel like one. Does anyone know what she is asking for?
Thanks in advance, Barb

Yes, there's one on the Red Heart site - http://www.coatsandclark.com/cgi-bin/MsmGo.exe?grab_id=264&page_id=5375232&query=three+way+scarf&hiword=SCARFS+THRE+scarf+three+way+
There's another, maybe at knitlist.com, where you knit one round, then k1, YO, repeat, end k1 on one round, keep knitting every round and when it's long enough, drop the st made by the YO, BO on the next round.

I just asked a similar question today. I think I am going to try this one:

I searched ravelry and some of the FO from this pattern look really nice.

Tube Scarf AKA Magic Scarf.
A search will bring up a few others.

Those look really nice and not heavy, but warm. Are they pretty easy to knit up. Would make great gifts.

Yeah, very easy. You use large needles and light fluffy yarn, or even regular worsted.
