Hello All,

I bought this book called fitted knits by stefanie japel and was working on page 88 when the numbers did not jive. Went to her website and there were corrections. Started it all over again and it still does not make any sense. Maybe it is me. But here is the problem:

Pattern is for a turtleneck tube vest. I did the turtleneck and kept knitting for 5" as required. Next I separated back and front as described in the corrections and now am doing the "front". When dividing, you are supposed to have 45 stitches for the back and 45 stitches for the front. Starting with 45 stitches here is what you do for the front:

Front:
Row 1: sl 1, p2, k3, p3, k3, p to last 12 sts. (k3, p3) twice.

Row 2: sl1, k2, p3, k3, p3, k1 LLI, k to last 13 st, RLI, k1 (p3, k3) twice.

LLI: left lifted increse RLI: right lifted increase

Rep rows 1-2 20 times more-87 sts. Place front sts on a length of scrap yarn and start with back.

Here is the problem, I finished 20 rows and had 67 stitches. It makes no sense. Second row is clearly increased by 2. What am I doing wrong?

Seema

P.S. I love this site because I am also a beginner

You're repeating rows 1 AND 2 20 times--40 rows total, 20 increase rows.

You're increasing 2 times the first time you knit row 2, then you'll be knitting row 2 twenty more times, so there's 40 more increase.

You're halfway there!
