Thank you all - my husband had asked me if I could knit a sweater for him like the one he got in Portugal. :knitting: I told him to let me try a cheap copy of my own (much like his) first as a trial. The first hurdle I faced was figuring out what the pattern stitch framing the cables was. I posted in the questions forum, including photos - and got a couple of responses saying it looked like ... uh, I've forgotten the stitch named because the suggestions were not quite right. :?? The stitch is a cluster stitch. I worked my trial using two strands of worsted weight acrylic, and shortened the body and sleeves and this is what I got ... It is too poofy, of course, and I will work the "trial" for my husband in a bulky acrylic. Actually, I should have worked his trial first - instead of raglan sleeves, it is a bill-board sweater (straight up & down) with drop sleeves - much easier, I think. On the other hand, I have gotten lots of compliments on my poofy sweater! :woot:

Is this sample size or husband size? :-) It looks good. The head opening looks a little small though.

I think it is GREAT! You should be very proud of this accomplishment! I like the "billboard" style, too...straight up for the body pieces, and drop shoulders for the sleeves. Thank you for sharing your work with us!

I too am impressed with the reverse engineering. One day I aspire to be able to do such things. For scarves its one thing but sweaters eek. :)
