Halfdome (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATThalfdome.html) is pretty snug and skull-cap-ish...

This one has very cool decreases: Code 88 hat (http://amandaknits.com/download/code88hata.pdf)

A little more slouchy but kind of cool: Hand Made Hat (http://www.knitonthenet.com/issue2/patterns/handmadehat/)

A little more feminine: Sisters Hat (http://jan-knitfreepatterns.blogspot.com/2007/03/sisters-hat.html)

How about some of kodymay's hats?

Here's a cool one I made for my 20 something daughter. It even has a "skull" on it.

This one is very similar in gauge, size, and number of cast-on stitches to the custom-sized snug beanie I just knit for my 25-yr-old son. He's thrilled with it. I'm pretty sure that skull and beanie caps are the same thing.

I don't know if it's too late, but Yarn Harlot's An Unoriginal Hat (http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2007/11/06/an_unoriginal_hat.html) is pretty cool IMO.

This is a super easy pattern, comes with a fantastic gauge chart for different sizes/yarn weights, and is fun to jazz up with different stitches and bands. I made myself a skully with this pattern simply by knitting it a little snugger and shorter than a regular winter hat. I'm in my thirties, but have gotten compliments from twenty-somethings regarding its coolness :) Definitely my default hat pattern:
