i got a pre-paid visa card with 100$ on it for christmas, perfect for buying yarn online! :happydance: but i have no idea what i should knit next! socks, and a sweater are next on my list of things to try, but i have no idea where i'd even start and what would be a good pattern. i've been searching the internet and haven't found anything i can understand.
if anyone has any good challenging but understandable sock and sweater patterns they could reccommend, i'd be SOOO grateful. :muah:

I'd definitely start with Silver's Sock Class (http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/)...great instructions, tons of pictures, written for beginning knitters. :thumbsup:

As far as the sweater goes...I haven't knit them personally but people rave about the Knitting Pure and Simple patterns. Top-down raglans are a great place to start because there is very minimal seaming.

I do think that starting with kid-sized socks, or a kid-sized sweater, if you have any to knit for, is good because you get to learn how everything fits together, but it's much quicker and requires a lot less yarn. :)
