CO 16

Rows 1 and 3: P5, K6, P5
Rows 2 and all even rows: Purl
Row 5: P5, C3B, P5

My first cable is on the right side and the second is on the other.

Do I need to C3F every OTHER 5th row?

Hi, the short answer is no, you don't have to cable front every other cable. It will look different butt still a cable. I recently made my niece a headband was was cabled like this and I was skeptical too but it works.

I will try to find a picture for you. Or if you have the book, One Skein Wonders you can find the pattern for the headband I made on page 47.

OK, the easiest way for me to show you the differrence is on Ravelry. Go to user Nowandthen and look up the headband on their projects. It does the cabling the way your pattern says. Though I think it is done as a C3F.

Then look at my projects (ID is Marj) and see my Coronet hat and cable scarf and you will see the more traditional cable with alternating C3F and C3B.

Hope this helps.

I have a left slanting cable on one side and a right on the other.....does that make sense? Half of the cable is on one side and half on the other.

I don't know why that is happening. It should look like in the headband picture.

Make sure you are always holding the same 3 stitches.

unless you keep turning the scarf over and over really quickly!

I found a page showing how to make these cables. It is a 4 stitch cable but you will get the idea.

Edited to add, here is the pattern using that cable:

Oh well, I'll keep going and call it artistic license. I dont like the yarn color anyway, but it's fast and it keeps me busy.

I figured out what I did on the first cable. I'm working in rows on a circ so I figured out that I turned the cable 'inside out' for lack of a better phrase. All better now.

I LEARNED SOMETHING!!!!! :woohoo:
