MOST adorable pattern I found for a toddler dress calls for Dalegarn Stork Cotton (or similar). Could I use baby sport weight yarn from my stash or is this a completely different weight of yarn? Having trouble figuring this one out.

Thanks!

You could go to www.yarndex.com (http://www.yarndex.com) and do a search on the yarn it calls for and then you can figure out it's weight. You also might be able to find a list of substitutions also.

you need to find out what the recomended needle size is along with the guage. As long as you can get them to match I dont see why you cnat.

Is this it? Stork from Dale of Norway?

It's fingering weight egyptian cotton. If you want to substitute, you could use a baby or sport weight (it's just a wee bit thicker) or you could use DMC's size 5 cotton crochet thread (aunt lydias any comparable size 5 crochet cotton would work).
