View Full Version : New Knitter - First objects
I just started to learn to knit last week and this site has been a huge help! I thought I would show just how much I have improved from my very first object to my last practice. The very first thing that I tried was a simple knit square. As you can see, I had some problems loosing stitches.

Here is the last practice item that I made, which was a simple K2P2 rib square. This one is a lot better and I have the same number of stitches at the end as when I started!

Now that I have the basics down, I think it's time for me to work on an actual item! I'm thinking I'll just keep going with the K2P2 and make a scarf.

:happydance: Welcome to the addiction of knitting!! I can't wait to see your scarf...you are doing great
That look great--you're doing very well! It took me a long time to get the hang of knitting, and I'm still learning.
That's quite an improvement in just a week. I say go for the scarf!

Wow...your stitching is coming along wonderfully. The very first square I made was actually a small basketweave to practice stitches and I showed it to a friend saying I planned to unravel it since she showed me LOTS of mistakes but she gave me great advice - until I am more confident in knowing what I am looking at stitch-wise, leave it alone so I have a visual reference of what each mistake is and how to fix it. It's worked well!
Congrats...can't wait to see your scarf!

I think that a ribbed scarf makes a very pretty but simple patterned scarf for a new knitter to do. No one will suspect you are even new to the game! LOL
Go for it!
