Can someone please recommend an easy knit lace scarf pattern. This will be my first venture into lace. I bought some yarn last spring at a knitting fair. It came with a pattern, however there is no picture so I have nothing to go on. I know there are a lot of lace knitters here, so I am hoping that one of you can let me know of a good beginner pattern. Thanks.

Here's an easy one from knitty.com. Its called "branching out" (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTbranchingout.html)
It's quite easy and uses any size needle or yarn. Not to mention it makes a beautiful scarf.

I've never done any real lace knitting either, but there are some patterns here: http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/lace.php

Check out Brooke's Column of Leaves Scarf (http://brookenelson.com/leafscarfpattern.html)

Many knitters who have made it have told me that it's a really good beginner lace project.

Also, here are photos of other knitters' versions of the scarf (http://www.flickr.com/photos/brookeln/sets/72157603610043156/), so you can see what it looks like in other yarns and colors.

Thanks very much Brookeln. That is a very pretty pattern and it is so interesting to see it made in so many different yarns.
