I'm looking for a pattern for a dress for my daughter. she's 14 and likes the "baby doll" style of dress with the short top, and flared skirt. last formal dance she went with a dress almost like the famous marilyin monroe dress where the wind is blowing the dress up. a bit more modest up top.
I'm clueless as to where i would find a simple pattern like this...

i pretty much just want to look at the pattern and possibly design my own dress from there.

Found a PRECIOUS babydoll dress CROCHETED in "Crochet Me: Designs to Fuel the Crochet Revolution" designed by Amy O'Neill Houck

Could download this pattern to get directions/guidance on how to knit the bottom portion of the dress if you could create the top portion.

Possibly do a spin on this top by changing the top portion as you desire and then lengthening the bottom?

could you modify a tee shirt top pattern. add a bit more fullness to lower part and/or make longer. A few possiblities here?http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTdahlia.html

this is almost perfect. i'd have to alter the top slightly but since she's got a figure, it would be perfect- now to find the time!!!

i asked the designer for suggestions as to how to alter the dress a litle to suit DD's taste. she was extremely helpful. I can't wait for my yarn and needles to come in to get started...
