I've been searching around so far with no luck. I want to knit my husband a sweater. He likes zip or button front. Something modern, not old-manish.

These are great patterns! Well written and easy to follow.
There's one in Last Minute Knitted Gifts (http://www.knitpicks.com/Last-Minute+Knitted+Gifts_BD30579.html).

I have the 'Last minute Gifts' book. I love Joelle Hoverson's work. It is so simple and beautiful. Would you believe I came across the book at the free store at the Marsh Lake community dump in the Yukon? The Men's Zipped Raglan is the very best I have seen so far. DH likes the ribbing and orange zipper. Must find Manos del Uruguay 100% hand spun kettle dyed wool in #37 thrush. This might be a challenge.

This (http://www.amazon.com/Men-Knits-Sweaters-Knit-That/dp/1931499233) book, avail in a lot of libraries, has some nice patterns. On the same page at amaz there are some other books shown that feature men's sweaters that might be avail thru your local lib, as well.
Have you checked out Jared Flood's blog? (http://brooklyntweed.blogspot.com/) He designs and crafts phenomenal pieces. All his works indicate pattern source, whether it's his or someone else's. Perhaps some ideas.
