Hi there! I'm using Lamb's Pride Bulky to make felted nesting boxes (from the Mason-Dixon Knitting book). I love this yarn (85% wool/15% Mohair), but at $8 per skein from my LYS (and having to double up strands for the boxes), it's a little pricey for this type of project.

Does anyone know of a comparable yarn that will felt well and that has a good selection of colors? Maybe something from Knit Picks?

Thanks in advance. :D

Hiya gamerchik,
Yep KP has a couple choices and all under 6 bucks a hank.
There's Shamrock, 100% peruvian wool, heavy worsted weight for 2.49 for an 82 yard ball, then there's WOA (wool of the andes) bulky for 3.99 /100 g hank about 137 yards. And WOA hand-dyed (multi colored) 100 g hank for 5.99 and if you want to get yummy? Theres Cadena 70/30 wool alpaca for 5.29/100 g hank (110 yards). To see the color choices just go to KP and check out those particular yarns. Some might even have colors on clearance or on sale!!!

p.s. Just wanted to add that you could probably even get LPB online for lots less than you are paying for yours at your LYS.
I just googled for
"discount yarns and got this site, Here's the page with patons SWS which is perfect for what you are doing and there are tons and tons of colors in this one yarn.
