Hey everyone! I haven't been here for a while, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be an aunt tonight or tomorrow morning! I am so excited! My brother is going to be a daddy for the first time! My SIL's water broke at 6AM today.

:woot:I may be going to visit my nephew this coming weekend (they live about 15 hours away).

I'm going to have to get my butt in gear and knit something for him quick! I already made a hat... what else can I make in a week's time (while going to college and work)? What would you want for the baby if you had a newborn?

I'll post pics as soon as I can :)

Oh congratulations! That's just so exciting! I don't know too much about what newborns need- could you pump out a little baby sweater? Maybe some teeny tiny baby socks?

Hats are the quickest and most valued for newborns. They keep newborns with hats on for several weeks nowadays.

Congrats and I hope things go well for your SIL and "brand new nephew"!!!

That's very cool! You could also make a blanket on very big needles, doesn't take long.

congratulations! I'm always a fan of blankets, not sure about the amount of time, though....

Lion Brand's bunny blanket buddy is very cute, fun to knit and quick. I started and finished one yesterday.

Five-Hour Baby Sweater, maybe? Or Fran's Hooded Baby Sweater? I think I got that one from Bev's Country Cottage. It's a free pattern.

Blankets are always good, too. I always preferred square blankets, too. Rectangles are hard to bundle them up in.

Congrat's...my son and DIL just had thier first!! My 4th grandchild! I made a sweater and a blanket, but the blanket was a more time consuming one..like you'd save for the baby later on...but they do need a lot of hats and Debbie Bliss has a pattern for socks that really stay on, but they are 3 month size.
Have fun!
Jen

Thanks everybody! That bunny blanket is simply darling! I may make that one.

Turns out we may be giving them a bit more time to get used to having the little tyke around, so we may be visiting them in a few weeks, or next month.

I am thinking I will knit some booties (the converse ones are so cute, TY!) and a small blanket for sure. I just don't know how many "newborn" things I should make because I know they do grow up fast! (I will keep making him things while he grows also)

The bibs are a great idea too! And those free ones are cute :) I don't think I have enough time to make a bunting though... (I was working on one before he was born but I stopped because my gauge was off :( )

Congratulations!!!!! :woohoo: I'm going to knit this for my cousin's second baby. When I had newborns small blankets to swaddle them in were always welcome presents and it's an easy pattern :)

Congratulations on being an official aunty, it's so much fun.

About your brother being in awe, when my DGD was born, I watched my son change right in front of all of us. No more laid-back, easy going type of young guy, he's now Mr. Protective and already planning a questionaire for when she starts dating.

Sorry I didn't update you all sooner, but I have pictures now! The lady in the picture is his momma. He's so cute and tiny! I'll be visiting them hopefully in the beginning of March

What a dear little baby. I love him.... sitting here looking at the photos I got tears in my eyes. One of my daughters is hoping to be pregnant soon so I guess this hit a chord with me!
