Hello,

Here is the instructions:

The first Square

Ch 7, join with a slip st to form a ring

Round 1 (Right Side) - Ch1, 16 SC in Ring join with a slip st to first SC
Mark Round 1 as right side


Round 2
THIS IS WHAT I'M QUESTION CH 1 THEN SC IN SAME ST WHAT SAME ST.. THE ST THAT THE CH 1 SPRUNG FROM ... HELP
Ch 1, sc in same st ,


ch 2, skip next sc,

*Sc in next sc ch 2, skip next sc;

Usually when you ch 1, you would then work into the next stitch to keep the forward progress, and count the ch 1 as the first stitch. But in this instance they're telling you to ch 1 into the stitch you just came out of. The very first stitch next to the ch 1 you just did, rather than the 2nd stitch. It prevents a hole from appearing there, and the count from being off as you go around.

The way I learned it was that for sc the ch 1 doesn't count as the first stitch (because it's not really thick enough to count as one) but it's just to get the yarn to the proper height for the next row.
Now on hdc's and above, yeah those chain stitches do count because now they are thick enough to count as a first stitch.:thumbsup:

But as Ingrid (one of the mod's) says, "Trust the pattern"

Yes. Your sc will go in the same spot your ch1 was just done. When you get all the way around, you won't count the ch1 as a stitch. You will join into the sc you're now doing.
