Hi all :)

I'm sure you get a lot of questions about spinning for the first time, sorry if anyone's bored with answering them, lol. My mom sent me a box with some yarn in it recently since she had so much and didn't know what to do with it (she's an art teacher and is donated a lot of things she can't use in the class). There was a bag in it with a few skeins of what I assume is un-spun yarn. I have no clues as to what it is other than the bag it's in says Euroflax and has a pamphlet in it about the company and they sell cotton and flax un-spun. There's also a tiny ball that's been spun from one of the colours, it's very irregular but I really like it.

I'm kind of excited to try to make something of it, it's very soft, but I don't want to wreck it so I've been looking up lots of info about spinning first. The thing is I have absolutely no spinning tools or hardware whatsoever. Is there a way to spin this without going out and getting tools and hardware, or should I hold off until I can get some?

Lol, it would figure after I post I start finding things about homemade drop spinners. Any suggestions on making and using these?

i just started spinning at the beginning of the month and i have to tell you it's addicting :)

sorry, i have no idea how to go about spinning flax but homemade drop spindles are a great way to start.. i used a dowel i already had and drilled a hole into a cd spindle case and used a bent nail in place of a hook

Thanks a bunch! Well now I'll be on the hunt for things to make a drop spindle with, lol. That's so cool that there's videos on how to spin, those will help a lot! And your yarn on esty is beautiful btw :D
