do you always slip as if to purl? I've been told that if a pattern doesn't say otherwise, you ALWAYS slip as if to purl. But it sure seems like it would be easier to slip as if to knit on the knit rows.

Thanks in advance!

I always sl pw because that keeps the orientation of the st correct. If sl'd kw it's twisted. When edge st, it's probably a matter of personal preference.

It depends. I slip knitwise because I knit combined (or whatever the name is this week:D) and it doesn't twist because that's the way my stitches are mounted. If you knit English, slip purlwise because it'll be straight.

This is exactly how I do it.
