View Full Version : Knitting a bow..

I want to knit a bow, so I figured I could do one how I make a bow with regular cloth. What I plan on doing is just knitting a rectangle and then gathering the center to make a knitted bow.
My question is, what knitting stitch do you think should I use? Stockinette or just knitting?
Not sure what would be best for a bow...

 I think stockinette would show it off nicely, but other stitches would look nice as long as they can hold their shape.
Don't forget that stockinette needs a border or it'll curl.

Thanks for your reply. How do I make a border? Is a border just a knit stitch?

Actually you need to do 4 or 5 rows of garter or something like seed stitch. If it's a very narrow bow then that might be a problem I guess. You could do the whole thing in seed stitch which might look very nice.

You could also make an i-cord selvage. Sl 3, knit across. On the other side, sl 3, purl to last 3 sts, k3. Repeat those two rows, and I think you will have no problem.
