View Full Version : Pattern help: Nakisha headband
I want to make this headband (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/PATTnakiska.html). When I skimmed through the cable chart, it has RS and WS rows. This is knit in circular, so what's the meaning of RS and WS?

I would't worry about it - you're right, you'll always be on the right side.

It doesn't have RS and WS rows, but row 1 and 2 etc. When you knit in the round you read all lines in a chart from right to left. If a person was to work it flat and seam together, or do a swatch, they'd read the even rows left to right.
The chart has two symbols. The blank symbol says Knit on RS, Purl on WS. The rectangle with a small dash in it says Purl on RS and Knit on WS. What do I do with these symbols?

Since you're knitting in the round, all your knitting will be done on the RS.

I made that headband a few months ago - I pretty much ignored that direction for purling on the wrong side - you only have a right side when you knit it circular. Purl when you come to the dash, knit the rest of the time. Have fun with it!
