I'm knitting a baby bootie from the book Hats and Booties and the directions say "Welt". Then it tells me to slip a stitch from the left needle onto the right, go to the 3rd ridge and pick up the 1st loop in that ridge with right needle. Then it says, pass the slipped stitch over the loop that was picked up. My problem is: It doesn't tell you what to do with the original slipped stitch that you're putting over the new loop. Should it be dropped like when you bind off or should it be placed back in the left needle? I don't even have a clue of what a welt should look like! Can someone please help???!!!
Thank you very much,

When you pass a slipped stitch over you will be dropping like you do when you are binding off. Amy has a video (http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knitting-glossary) ,scroll down to SKP which is what you are basically doing, to get a better idea.
