Hi All,

How many of you show off your projects at local fairs? How many of you knew you can do that.
I have been a director of our local fair in my city for years and I always stroll through the craft section.

Barely any knitting or crocheting at all any more. Well from this website and many more there are tons of knitters out there.

Lets get a prize book from our local fall fair, play the 1 - 5 dollar entry fee and show off our knitting to your town.

Local spinners can do displays by the knitting display to add and to educate. Heck bring in an alpaca display while spinning.

Just my thought of today.... cheers

Hi Kryssie,

At the Oregon State Fair there are a lot of exhibits of knitting, crochet, quilting and spinning. It seems that we are a very crafty state.

The quilt part is fairly large, but I've never seen as many as I did one year in Pennsylvania. There must have been five hundred quilts hanging, most of which were so beautiful and intricate it left me dazed.

Yes, I most heartily support entering your goodies in the local fair. I've won numerous blue ribbons over my lifetime.

Here's my favorite story: I was in 4-H, which is huge on the County Fair here in Maryland. One summer I'd started knitting an Irish Fisherman sweater (my first!) for my father. Come fair-time, all I'd done was the front and back. So I sewed them together, threw on some ribbing around the armholes and neck, and entered it as a vest. Hey, a blue ribbon! By next year, I'd finished it off properly, arms and all. So I entered it again - this time as a sweater. Hey, another blue ribbon! ;)

Lately, I got blue ribbons for my "sculpted" punch-hook rug and wall-hanging, and for my tatting (where I was the only entry). I'll try and add pictures.

PS - I seem only to be able to do URL's; not the actual photos.
